It has been a busy start to the year, with our children transitioning into their new surroundings. During this time, it can be overwhelming and/or upsetting for children, we have a few tips to help you with your child’s first day and week at Inspired.

Tip #1: Saying goodbye

When it’s time to go, let your child know you’re going and when you’ll be back. We encourage you to either wave, or offer comfort with cuddles. It is recommended never to leave the room without saying goodbye as this can sometimes form separation anxiety for children. In the event your child is not settled after arriving and spending time together, our Educating team will be ready to assist with cuddles and comfort whilst you say goodbye.

Tip #2: Do you have a spare 5 minutes?

Can you free up your calendar in the afternoon? Upon collecting your child, make time to enjoy a book together, complete a puzzle, this enables our team of educators to discuss with you, your child’s day, learning and strategies to help support your child become familiar with our Educating team.

Tip #3: Relationships.

We encourage you to build a relationship with your child’s Educators. Your child is more likely to feel secure at Inspired if you feel secure and safe.

Tip #4: Timing.

At Inspired we recommend for your child’s first day of attendance (and the first two weeks if appropriate for your family), you commence care with shorter days (especially for children with older siblings who remain at home over school holiday period). This enables your child to build relationships with Educators and their new Inspired friends. Long days at the start can often cause stress and tiredness for our young children.

The month of January, is a special time of the year, where relationships and friendships begin. The Inspired team of Educators have worked together as a team to create a curriculum that encourages friendships, independence, literacy, numeracy, science, construction, arts and crafts and so much more.

Are you ready for a year of fun, excitement, challenges, growth, new friendships and learning?
