You may have heard of the Early Years Learning Framework, but how does this shape our Curriculum at Inspired?
Each month our educating team creating a monthly curriculum based on children’s interests, strengths, abilities and developmental needs. Our curriculum represents the 5 learning outcomes;
- Learning Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity
- Learning Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to our world
- Learning Outcome 3: Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
- Learning Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners
- Learning Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators.
Each month our children will explore a group project; for example currently the Kookaburras are enjoying the opportunity to learn and discover Dinosaurs, our experience started off with a natural play space, which has now seen the creation of Dinosaur fossils, a science experiment creating a volcanic eruption, creating habitats for dinosaurs, and learning just how tall dinosaurs were. As our children continue to display interest in Dinosaurs, our project will evolve. You can view the Kookaburras ongoing learning through Xplor and within their educational environment where photos, description and children’s learning is presented.
Our Curriculum evolves with children and is carefully planned to ensure each and every child’s developmental needs and interests are explored and encouraged. This year will see changes to our curriculum, with less focus upon daily photographs of children and more emphasis of children’s learning and development. Every week our educating teams will create a weekly reflection, this will present to you and your family the learning that has occurred in the environment and invite you to continue this learning at home or greater still become involved at Inspired.
During the month of January we have provided each family with an ‘All About Me’ form, this information is collated to create your child’s goals, activities and learning strategies. We kindly ask for this documentation and a family photo be returned prior to Friday the 27th of January in preparation for our February curriculum.
