Often as parents we view Early Childhood as the environment for children to learn shapes, colours and letters from a young age.

However, the importance of Early Childhood is Play, and through play is when our intentional teaching and learning practices take place.

How?

Our professional team of educators understand and create meaningful learning experiences to encourage children to learn and explore literacy and numeracy in every possible experience and activity. For example, when your child is eating their morning tea, our educators will facilitate a conversation to discuss the different shapes, colours and sizes of fruit and when your 3 year old child pours their morning cup of milk we discuss mathematical concepts such as empty, half full, full, heavy and light.

Our Inspired Kindergarten believes letter recognition is a key step in a child’s ability to learn to read and write.

Each and every fortnight our Kindergarten children focus on a a letter from the alphabet. To support children to explore and learn in an environment that is suitable to their development needs and interests our team of educators provide a variety of experiences to encourage children’s letter awareness.

Activities may include the following:

It is of great importance for children to not only recognise and write letters, but to also understand the different sound of each letter. Our Inspired Kindergarten children engage in a variety of rich learning experiences to discover phonics and you too can enjoy this learning opportunity at home.
