As Educators we see children as competent and capable beings—they are the masters of their own learning and, when exposed to quality early childhood education, children will develop a lifelong love of learning, discovery, and curiosity with the world around them. Our curriculum is designed to stimulate physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development through a strong emphasis of routine and learning through play.
Regular incursions and excursions give children an opportunity to learn through new experiences. Engaging with the community helps children develop a greater sense of belonging and appreciate cultures different from their own.
Providing children with rich and meaningful learning experience extended outside of our early learning centre will assist our children in developing a more established sense of community. Incursions and excursions are at no additional cost to families.
To further support your child’s individual curriculum our educating teams create meaningful documentation to communicate your child’s learning, interests, and achievements, this can be shared in many different formats including learning stories, photographs, videography, letters of achievements, parent-teacher interviews. This information is shared in both your child’s learning portfolio and our information sharing application which can be accessed via your smartphone.
“The best education does not happen at a desk, but rather engaged in everyday living – hands on, exploring, in active relationship with life”.
We believe learning with nature helps children and our educators to build connections and relationships with people, cultures, and places in our local community in a way which truly reflects the unique geographical, cultural and community context of Inspired Early Learning.
Our community outings curriculum supports all children at Inspired to be active members of our local community, immersed in the natural environment outdoors.
We believe that nature-based play and learning increases children’s physical, cognitive, social, and emotional skills and will encourage children’s creativity and imagination. Natural environments provide opportunities for children to interact with their peers and learn collaboratively as they connect with the land and explore the natural environment. It is not surprising therefore that nature-based play promotes children’s health and well-being.
All children at Inspired are active participants in our community outings program with the use of our 6-seater prams to support accessibility, comfort, and joy for all children. Our community outings are held within a 3km walking radius of our Inspired centre to spark imagination and stimulate children’s emerging interests, learning and natural curiosities.

“Honouring our past, to educate our present and inspire our future”
Inspired Early Learning acknowledges and pays its respects to the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which our Centre is located and our continuing connection to land, sea and community and pay our respect to all Elders past, present, and emerging. Our service is located on lands where Australia’s First Nations Peoples’ have been teaching and learning ways of belonging, being and becoming for more than 65,000 years. Our learning communities have been shaped, and will continue to be shaped, by the influences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, wisdoms, and knowledge.
Honouring First Nations Peoples’ histories, perspectives, and continuing connections to land, sea, and sky in all our programs, deepens everyone’s learning. It is a great honour to learn from, and with, the oldest living and thriving cultures on Earth and walk together to a better future for all.
At Inspired we believe reconciliation is the ongoing commitment we have to create a future where we are respectful and proud of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures. As a community, we take the journey towards reconciliation together with our children, educators and families.
What does reconciliation at Inspired look like?
“Our task is to help children climb their own mountains, as high as possible”
Inspired Early Learning Centre and Kindergarten is a Reggio Emilia inspired education and care centre. Reggio Emilia was first developed in the mid 20th Century by the psychologist and teacher – Lois Malaguzzi. The Reggio Emilia approach is an educational philosophy based on the belief that all children possess endless potential for development and learning in relationships with others.
Through this, the approach seeks to unlock and respect the ability of the child to explore, working with their hands, minds, and emotions. To express themselves through ‘many languages’, meaning the untold myriad of ways in which children can express themselves.
The Reggio Emilia philosophy is based upon the following set of principles:
At Inspired, this means that an aesthetically stimulating and engaging environment will promote children’s imagination, creativity, exploration, discovery, while promoting a sense of wonder.
Our educating team work in partnerships with our children and families to provide open planned learning environments where every material is considered for its purpose, with our educators fostering learning through group projects, which are continually evolving to encourage children and their interests. These projects encourage collaboration, communication, and exploration.
Our learning environments are inclusive and homely, with careful thought taken with lighting, sounds and smells, allowing children to feel comfortable and secure, whilst also encouraging individual development of self-confidence and an overall positive sense of self and wellbeing.
“We must teach our children to smell the earth, to taste the rain, to touch the wind, to see things grow, to hear the sun rise and night fall – to care most”
At Inspired, we promote a holistic open-ended curriculum which explores ideas and practices for environmental sustainability that helps children understand the interdependence between people and the environment. We value the importance of sustainability and conservation through implementing sustainable practices and fostering respect and care for the living and non-living environment.
We believe learning about being environmentally responsible starts with everyday practice and we are committed to protecting our environment to ensure a sustainable future for our children.
Our passionate Sustainability Officer works in collaboration with our educating team to develop innovative ideas to support and empower children to develop a sense of awareness to the limit of our natural resources and what we can do to ensure that we reduce waste and reuse suitable items.
Our sustainable practices include:
In collaboration with our children, families and local community we continue to research and develop new practices to reduce our carbon footprint.
“The first five years of life set a foundation for life-long learning, achievement, health, wellbeing and productivity”
Our Inspired curriculum aims to promote self-esteem, resilience, and emotional regulation for children to better prepared for everyday life. We are committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children by providing an environment where all children are respected, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
At Inspired, we recognise the importance of sun protection and sun exposure, and we ensure all our Educators are aware of and implement sun protection strategies as determined by the Cancer Council Victoria.
Our environments incorporate sufficient shelter and trees to provide ample shade for our children to explore safely. In Victoria, UV levels regularly reach 3 or higher from mid-August to the end of April. Ensuring children are wearing loose-fitting clothing that covers as much skin as possible.
At Inspired, we understand the importance of a nutritionally balanced diet for young children and how it promotes a child’s growth and wellbeing. All meals provided in our menu are planned in consultation between our Inspired children, families, educators and Inspired chef’s under the Healthy Eating Advisory guidelines.
The Inspired focus is to incorporate simple, nutrient rich, seasonal whole foods, and fresh local produce within our seasonally based, four-week rotating menu. Our menu is designed to incorporate morning tea, a selection of fresh seasonal fruits, a cooked lunch and afternoon tea that caters to all allergies and dietary requirements. Our menu and meals include the growing and harvesting of our own vegetables and herbs, ensuring children are receiving the freshest produce and are actively involved in the cooking and meal preparation process.
